Acoustical / Sound Reduction
Our applications greatly improve ambient sound quality in a wide variety of building projects including auditoriums, sports facilities, televisions and sound stages, convention halls, and parking garages.
Sound Transmission and Noise Reduction
Sound transmission refers to the way sound waves travels through different materials and environments. When sound waves encounter an object, they can either pass through it, bounce off it or be absorbed by it. The amount of sound that is transmitted through an object or material depends on its physical properties, such as density and thickness. In building construction, sound transmission is an important consideration for creating a comfortable work environment, especially in places where privacy matters. Sound transmission reduction materials like insulation can help reduce the amount of sound that is transmitted through walls, ceilings and floors.
Noise reduction is the process of reducing unwanted or excessive noise in a particular environment. This can be done with the help of insulation. In the workplace, noise reduction is an important consideration for protecting employees’ hearing and creating a more comfortable working environment, sometimes ear plugs are not enough. By understanding how sound travels and how noise can be reduced we can create a more comfortable and safe environment for living, working and communicating.

Acoustical Insulation Options
K-13 Spray on Insulation
K-13® insulation is the spray-applied cellulose insulation tailored to your specific project requirements for insulation (R-Value), noise reduction (NRC), color, durability, condensation control, texture, and aesthetics.
Celbar Wet Spray
Celbar is a versatile spray-applied cellulose insulation used in wall, floor/ceilings cavities and attics for thermal and sound control. Its made with 80% recycled paper. Celbar provides designers a naturally safe and sustainable building solution at an affordable cost.
Ultra Touch Cotton Batting
UltraTouch is made from high-quality natural fibers. These fibers contain inherent qualities that are extremely effective sound absorbtion. There are no VOC concerns when using UtraTouch, as it is safe for you and the enviroment.
SonaSpray "fc" Acoustical Finish
SonaSpray® is a spray-applied acoustical texture designed for a wide range of project types. SonaSpray® provides an attractive, high-performance solution to acoustical and lighting design objectives in both new construction and renovation projects. A typical installation includes schools, churches, auditoriums, passenger terminals, libraries, detention facilities, cafeterias, offices, hotels, and condominiums.
SonaKrete Premium Acoustical Finish
SonaKrete® is a premium acoustical finish product. Noise reduction of up to 75% can easily be achieved with a smooth plaster-like appearance. SonaKrete® is used primarily where drywall, plaster, brown coat, or any other smooth surface is present or will be installed. Payless Insulation is the only licensed applicator of SonaKrete® in Texas to minimize poor or inferior installations.
Sound Transmission
Sound transmission is all about trying to keep sound where it is supposed to be instead of traveling to another room.
Noise Reduction
Noise reduction is about reducing the come-back or echo in a room. Places like noisy restaurants, gyms, fabrication machine shops can make it extremely difficult to handle.
